Title: The Quantum Universe Report and the
Recent Advances in Cosmology and Fundamental Physics
The Quantum
Universe report is a document to communicate the dramatic progress and
opportunities in the field of particle physics. The intended audience is
decision makers who are responsible for supporting particle physics research
around the world, but particularly in Washington. In the first
half of this colloquium I will review this report, with emphasis on some of the
interesting lessons we learned about the politics of science funding as the
Quantum Universe committee researched our audience and context. In the second
half of the colloquium cosmology, which features strongly in the QU report and
which I will argue is entering a new and very exciting area.
