Abstract:
CDF is one of the two major experiments at Fermilab Tevatron, a proton-antiproton accelarator operating at the world record center of mass energy of 1.96 GeV. Along with studies of the electroweak and strong dynamics, CDF particularly aims at discovering new physics beyond the Standard Model. Tau belongs to the third generation of leptons and has a very special role in searches for new particles and interactions. We present an overview of techniques employed by the CDF experiment for detection and identification of tau leptons along with the most recent physics results in the areas of electroweak and new phenomena searches.
