Title: State of the Department
Professor Shirley Chiang, Chair of the UC Davis Department of Physics, will give
an overview of the department activities in both teaching and research. The
number of students we teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels has
been steadily increasing. We have continued to hire excellent new faculty
members. The research in the department encompasses both experimental and
theoretical efforts in three major areas which will be briefly surveyed:
Cosmology, High Energy Physics, and Condensed Matter Physics.
